Currie, Rand, and Dow Scholars Announced!

Members of the Harrison County Community Foundation Advisory Board are pleased to announce the 2010 Currie, Rand and Dow scholars. The Velda R. Currie scholars receive scholarship awards of $1,000 to a vocational/technical educational school of the student’s choice.  This year there are ten scholars; Ryan Fouts, Nicole Melby, Sean Monahan and Katrina Schwery from Woodbine High School; Brady Kuhlman and Ian Rider from West Harrison High School; Matthew Hanigan from Boyer Valley Community High School; Dwight Swift from Logan-Magnolia High School; and Valyn Reinig and Shelby Keller from Missouri Valley High School.

The Wubbena C. Rand scholars each receive a scholarship award of $1,000 for a medical/health field education at a school of the student’s choice. This year there are two scholars from Blair High School and two from Missouri Valley High School; Kelsey Miller and Shelby Keller from Missouri Valley High School and Michael Blaha and Danay Taylor from Blair High School.
 
The Faye Marie and Linly Dow Scholarship will award two scholarships for the benefit of any Logan Magnolia High School graduating senior. The Dow scholars each receive a scholarship award of $1,500 to the school of the student’s choice. This year the two scholars are Dwight Swift and Bronwyn Pitt.
 
The Harrison County Community Foundation Board members are: Chair, Greg Christiansen of Missouri Valley; Vice Chair, Nancy Cohen of Persia; Secretary/Treasurer, Cindy Pryor of Woodbine; Alan J. Anderson, Esq. of Logan; Susan Bonham of Logan and Linda Lehan of Dunlap.

Wubbena C. Rand Scholarship Application and Fact Sheet

Blair Community Schools and Missouri Valley High School seniors or graduates who plan on entering the medical/health field may apply.  This scholarship is renewable, previous successful scholarship recipients may reapply for the second year.

Birks Scholarship Application and Fact Sheet

Any Harrison County School District graduating senior but preference is given to graduates of the Logan-Magnolia School District and you must be pursuing a business degree from a college or university of your choice is eligible to apply.

Velda R. Currie Scholarship Application and Fact Sheet

A vocational/technical education scholarship is available for tuition at a school of the student’s choice.  Four-year college programs will not be considered.  Residents of Harrison County who are high school seniors, graduates, or GED recipients who attend or have attended Missouri Valley, Logan-Magnolia, West Harrison, Woodbine or Boyer Valley school districts.  Only students who are or will soon be enrolled in a two-year degreed or certified program may apply.  Graduates of these programs receive certificates, diplomas, or Associate in Applied Science degrees. This scholarship is renewable, previous successful scholarship recipients may reapply for the second year.

Faye Marie and Linly Dow Scholarship
Only Logan-Magnolia Community High School graduating seniors who are enrolled in a trade, technical, vocational, or other educational program and can demonstrate in writing the reason for applying for the Faye Marie and Linly Dow Scholarship and how it will help them achieve their goals.  The criteria for Dow Scholars require successful academic careers, extra-curricular activities, along with a demonstrated community service spirit of volunteerism.
