2010 Lakin, Kearney, Mort, and Costello Scholars Announced!
The Mills County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that the 2010 scholars have been selected for the Charles E. and Florence Lakin Endowed Education Scholarship Fund, the Sgt. James C. Kearney, III Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund, the George and R. Charlotte Mort Endowed Scholarship Fund, and the William L. Costello NWMSU Endowed Scholarship Fund.
The Lakin scholars will receive a scholarship award of $2,000 for tuition and/or books at an accredited school of the student’s choice. This year the four Lakin scholars are Benjamin Blank, Jacob Doyle, and Jesse Marie Buley, from East Mills High School, and Kathryn Fritz, a 2009 graduate from East Mills High School who is currently attending Iowa State University and majoring in Kinesiology, pursuing the Health and Fitness Management option. The Kearney scholar will receive a scholarship award of $500 for tuition at the school of his or her choice. The 2010 Kearney scholar is Jesse Marie Buley from East Mills High School. The Mort scholar will receive a scholarship award of $500 for tuition at the school of the student’s choice. The Mort scholar, Amber Marie Perkins, is a 2007 graduate from Malvern High School. Ms. Perkins is currently attending Northwest Missouri State University and expects to graduate in May 2012 with a dual degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. The Costello scholar will receive a scholarship award of $1000 for tuition at NWMSU. This year the Costello scholar is Jesse Marie Buley from East Mills High School.
