Michel, Gibson, Staley, Birkby, Workman, and Hall Scholars Announced!
The Fremont County Community Foundation Advisory Baord is pleased to announce that the Brooke Michel, G. Rex Gibson, Lola Jean Somermeyer Staley, Dulcie Jen Birkby, Dick Workman, and Phil and Rosie Hall scholars have been selected.
The Michel scholar will receive a scholarship award of $400 for tuition at the school of the student’s choice. The Michel scholar is Sarah Brennan from Hamburg High School.
The Gibson scholars will receive a scholarship award of $300 for tuition at the school of the student’s choice. The four Gibson scholars are Sarah Brennan and Andrew Kuhr from Hamburg High School; Jessica Donahue from Fremont-Mills High School; and Beth Ragland from Sidney High School.
The Staley scholars will receive scholarship awards of $500 for tuition at any Iowa college with preference given to students enrolled at the University of Iowa. The three Staley scholars are Sarah Brennan, Aaron Tiemeyer, and Heather Robinson from Hamburg High School.
The Birkby scholar will receive a scholarship award of $400 for tuition at a school of the student’s choice. The Birkby scholar is Cassandra Berry from Sidney High School
The Workman scholar will receive a scholarship award of $600 for tuition at a school of the student’s choice. The Workman scholar is Andrew Kuhr from Hamburg High School.
The Phil and Rosie Hall Merit Award is made available to Sidney High School graduating seniors. Rosie Hall has established a scholarship fund in memory of her husband, Phil Hall. Phil and Rosie Hall were both born in Fremont County and married on June 29, 1949. Phil and Rosie Hall desire to promote patriotism, citizenship, and education with the Phil and Rosie Hall Merit Award Endowed Fund. The Hall scholar will receive a scholarship award of $400. The Hall scholar is Beth Ragland from Sidney High School
The Fremont County Community Foundation Board members are: Chair, Christopher Johsnon of Sidney; Vice Chair, Jon Johnson, Esq. of Sidney; Secretary/Treasurer, Kent Claiborne of Hamburg; Grant Schaaf of Randolph; W. Ross Silcock of Tabor, and Steve Lorimor of Farragut.
