The mission of the SCCF is to foster private giving, strengthen service providers and improve the conditions of the county. To these ends, it will promote endowment building, community, grant making, organizational collaboration, and public leadership for the benefit of greater Story County.
The Story County Community Foundation was formed in 2005 as an affiliate of the Greater Des Moines Community Foundation. The founding members of the organization had a vision to ensure that our communities charitable programs were supported now- and in the future. We work together with many individuals, families, business, and organizations to establish endowment funds that will provide grant awards for years to come.
The Story County Community Foundation is governed by a local Board of Directors who are active in our local communities. Members of our Board of Directors are: Don Erickson, Dan Gonnerman, Dale Henricks, Phyllis Lepke, John Middents, Frankee Oleson, Gretta Reischauer, Charlie Ricketts, Suzan Shierholz, Peg Uthe, Don Toms, Barb McBreen, Vern Hawkins and Laura West Ex Officio members are David Andrews and Lynn Scarlett
