The mission of the Mahaska County Community Foundation is to foster private giving, strengthen service providers and improve the conditions of the community, county, or area of interest. To these ends, it will promote endowment building, community, grant making, organizational collaboration, and public leadership for the benefit of the designated area.
The Mahaska County Community Foundation was formed in 2005 as an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines. The founding members of the organization had a vision to ensure that our communities’ charitable programs were supported now- and in the future. We work together with many individuals, families, business, and organizations to establish endowment funds that will provide grant awards for years to come.
The Mahaska County Community Foundation is governed by a local board of directors who are active in our local communities. Members of our board of directors are:
- Mike Broerman, President, term ending December 2009
- Michelle Moore, Vice President, term ending December 2009
- Amy Nossaman, Treasurer, term ending December 2008
- Calvin Bandstra, Secretary, term ending December 2009
- Ed Elder, term ending December 2012
- Mike Stytsma, term ending December 2012
